Booking and Payments

  1. Deposit Policy: A non-refundable deposit (e.g., 30-50% of the total cost) is required to secure the booking.
  2. Final Payment: Full payment must be made no later than 14 days before the start of the tour.
  3. Payment Methods: Accepted payment methods include credit cards, bank transfers, and mobile money.

Cancellations and Refunds

  1. Cancellation Policy:
    • Cancellations made 30+ days before the tour start date: 100% refund minus the deposit.
    • Cancellations made 15-29 days before the tour: 50% refund.
    • Cancellations made less than 15 days before the tour: No refund.
  2. Force Majeure: In case of unforeseen circumstances (e.g., natural disasters, political unrest), rescheduling or partial refunds will be offered.

Changes to the Itinerary

  1. Flexibility Clause: The itinerary is subject to change based on weather, road conditions, or unforeseen events. Equivalent alternatives will be provided when possible.
  2. Participant-Requested Changes: Modifications requested by the traveler may incur additional costs and are subject to availability.

Health and Safety

  1. Travel Insurance: Travelers must have valid travel insurance covering medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and personal belongings.
  2. Vaccination Requirements: Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required for entry into Ghana. COVID-19 vaccination or testing policies may also apply based on regulations.
  3. Fitness Levels: Some activities (e.g., hiking, canopy walks) require moderate fitness levels. Travelers are responsible for assessing their capability.

Inclusions and Exclusions

  1. Inclusions: The tour price includes accommodation, transportation, guided tours, and entrance fees for listed activities. Meals may be partially or fully included, depending on the package.
  2. Exclusions: International flights, personal expenses, gratuities, and optional activities are not included.

Itinerary

Morning: Assin Manso Slave River Site

  • Depart early from Accra or Cape Coast for Assin Manso.
  • Visit the Slave River Site, a poignant historical location where enslaved Africans were bathed and rested before being taken to the castles for shipment.
  • Learn about the historical significance of the site and its role in the transatlantic slave trade.

Duration: 2–2.5 hours


Afternoon: Elmina Castle

  • Continue to Elmina Castle (approximately 1.5 hours from Assin Manso).
  • Take a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, the oldest European structure in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Explore the castle’s dungeons, governor’s quarters, and learn about its role in the slave trade.
  • Optional: Visit the nearby Fort St. Jago for panoramic views of Elmina town and its fishing harbor.

Duration: 2 hours


Evening: Return Journey

  • Depart from Elmina in the late afternoon.
  • Return to Cape Coast or Accra (approximately 3 hours to Accra).
  • Reflect on the day’s experiences during the drive back.
